LogIKTram at ICITT 2023 in Madrid
At the seventh International Conference on Intelligent Traffic and Transportation (ICITT), Jonas Ziegler from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences gave insights into his research work – as part of the LogIKTram project – on the communication between forwarder and tram operators.
The International Conference on Intelligent Traffic and Transportation (ICITT) in Madrid took place for the seventh time from September 18 to 20. With the paper titled “Data Formats for Communication between Freight Tram Operator and Forwarder“, Jonas Ziegler, researcher at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, presented the latest research results of his team of four. The main focus of the LogIKTram work package are the developed file formats that are needed for the exchange between forwarders and tram operators on the LogIKTram Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platform to plan and execute transportation tasks.
Tailor-Made Software Solutions
The exchange file formats were developed based on the framework FREIGHTWISE. Its components provide information on the status of goods and transport vehicles. In particular, the components Transport Service Description (TSD), Transport Execution Plan (TEP) and Transport Execution Status (TES) were developed from scratch to reduce complexity and adapt to the LogIKTram requirements. The further enhanced framework now offers a lean and efficient basis for the partly automated rail transportation of goods to the last mile.
