LogIKTram at the VDV CityCargoTram congress

Growing online trade, intensified by the pandemic, not only affects delivery traffic, but also puts a strain on road infrastructure and residents alike. Many cities and municipalities are now considering alternative options for local logistics. The congress VDV CityCargoTram in Leipzig on May 23 and 24 will deal intensively with all relevant topics of inner-city freight and parcel transport by streetcars.

Lectures and demonstrations will present information, innovations and other interesting facts about urban cargo mobility concepts, inner-city hubs, distribution stations and best practices.

Along for the ride are our experts from LogIKTram. On May 23 at 8.30 a.m., Roland Frindik of Marlo Consultants GmbH and Prof. Dr. Ingo Dittrich from Offenburg University will give a presentation on the topic of urban and regional logistics on the routes of the German railway regulations EBO and BOStrab in Northern Baden (“Urbane und regionale Logistik auf EBO- und BOStrab-Strecken in Nordbaden”). At 9:15 a.m., Christoph Rentschler from Alb Valley Transport Company (AVG) will present the logistics initiative RegioKArgo, an approach to the combined transport of people and goods. („RegioKArgo – ein Ansatz für den kombinierten Personen- und Warentransport“).

The congress is intended – in addition to the exchange of research – to provide trend-setting assistance for transport companies and municipalities in the implementation of freight and goods transport in urban areas. Decision-makers and employees will gain an insight into the concepts and strategies for sustainable urban design.
