LogIKTram auf der World Conference of Transport Research

The World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR) took place for the 16th time in Montreal, Canada. The international, multidisciplinary, and multisectoral conference focuses on scientific exchange between transport researchers, managers, policy makers, and educators in the transportation sector.

With his lecture “Modeling framework for the agent-based simulation of rail-based urban parcel transport: An application of a two-stage transport chain selection model in the city of Karlsruhe, Germany”, Lukas Barthelmes from the Institute for Transport Studies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) presented the LogIKTram approach as a new rail concept in a microscopic freight transport demand model. In addition to the methodological insights, the first simulation results and, thus, the potential for transport through freight delivery with LogIKTram were presented. The international audience was very interested in the presentation and the results as they were discussed intensively in the subsequent Q&A session.

In the LogIKTram project, the Institute for Transport Studies is developing a microscopic transport demand model under the leadership of PD Dr.-Ing. Martin Kagerbauer, which can be used to investigate the effects of light rail-based freight transport on traffic.
